Burning old/used oil in furnaces “adapted” to this type of fuel is ill-considered and the worst ever solution!

Heating your home in this manner, i.e. using so-called cheap fuel, you think that you will obtain free heat. You couldn’t be more wrong! The amount of harmful substances emitted during combustion is enough to harm the inhabitants of your home with a defective ventilation.

Burning 1 ton of used oil emits 10 kg of poisons substances.

These are toxic and carcinogenic compounds, such as dioxins, furans as well as zinc, manganese, lead, phosphorus, sulphur compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

The law states:

The handling of used oils at every stage requires special care and compliance with the applicable legal provisions in this area (Regulation of the Minister of Economy and Labour dated 4 August 2004, Journal of Laws of 2004, No. 192, item 1968).

Whoever burns waste oils without appropriate permits, or
Whoever burns waste oils with energy recovery in furnaces or devices not equipped with measuring instruments for continuous recording: temperature of exhaust gases, their pressure, time of their presence in the afterburning chamber, oxygen content in exhaust gases and emission control, or
Whoever burns waste oils with energy recovery without paying the excise duty due, or
Whoever classifies waste oils as non-hazardous waste without confirming said classification based on laboratory test results
shall be punished by arrest, fine or suspension of activity.
